Great Ocean Road Day 2

On the second day of our tour we went to a zoo in a town right near the best surf beach in Austalia. I was dying the entire time because everything was too cute. These are a species if wallabe! Aka mini kangaroos!

So cute! I tried to take a selfie with them but they kept hissing at me...

After the zoo, we took a ferry to a little Island off the coast called Philip Island. On  the island we visited this area called the nobbies! You can see seals and tiny penguins there! Although we didn't see any seals!

This trip ended with a visit to the western part of the island where you can find the worlds smallest penguins! At around 6pm all the penguins start to come out of the water and march up the beach! It was the cutest thing ever! However there is no photography allowed because the camera flashes can blind the little guys and then they will die..So I have no pictures! I did get a professional photo with a KAOLA though!! 

Great Ocean Road Day 1

So Karen and I paid for this 2 day tour of the great ocean road which runs along the south eastern coast of Australia near Melbourne! Our first stop was at the 12 Apostles which are massive sandstone/limestone stacks that were created when the coastline was eroded away by the rough ocean waves. 

I had a massive geology boner the entire time.

We ate lunch in this spot, which was right next to the 12 apostles. It's some little cove area where a boat crashed and everyone died except an 18 year old girl and an 18 year old boy and theres a cute little love story that goes along with it.

After the 12 apostles we went for a nature walk through a rainforest!! (WTF A RAINFOREST!!) This is a picture of the worlds second tallest species of tree! It's a type of eucalyptus!

This was a massive tree that fell over during a storm! It's trunk was huge!

This is a random scenic overlook along the Great Ocean Road. It was really overcast when we went but it was still really pretty.

OMFG!!! MY FIRST KAOLA SIGHTING!!! It was being adorable in a tree near a gas station we stopped at! 

This is at the entrance of the Great Ocean Road and it's a tribute to all of the men who built the road. There's also a statue thing off to the left but it was fugly so I didn't take a picture of it.

First day in Melbourne!

This is the train station on Flindera street. It's fancy.

This is a  Main Street in Melbourne that I can't remember the name of but it's super famous and trendy.

We went to the meuseam of natural science and found a snake skeleton!

Inward bound

MThis is me after running inward bound (yes it is a selfie...don't judge me). Only some girl on my team was injured so we wound up walking 30 miles through the bush over the course of 14 hours. You can google inward bound an read about it on Wikipedia!

OMG iced coffee

Every time I order an iced coffee in Australia I die a little inside because unlike the glorious American version, the australian version is a gross semi warm glass of espresso, water, milk and ice cream. However after 6 weeks of diligently hunting, Karen and I finally discovered a place that would make an American iced coffee!! I think we both cried a little. VICTORY!!MERICA!!

Commencement dinner!!

So the dorm I am stayin has this big fancy dinner every year. Everyone he's dressed up and we get driven out to a fancy venue and there is a 3 course meal...but the best part is all the drinks are free!!  This is Karen and Lach! Karen is the other American from LA an Lach is Ni's age and from a town near Melbourne. 

So many free drinks...

Feel my pain

Alcohol (and everything else) in Australia is ridiculously expensive. I can't even drink beer here. The only thing I can afford is box wine!

Omg! Karen and I wet for a walk around the base of mount ainslie and saw so many kangaroos! Also she's not in any of my pictures, bu I swear I have friends!
